Injectable Fillers

We always get this question from our clients: What is the best filler? There is really not one answer to this. There are many options in the market for derma fillers. At Aromas Medspa we offer most of them and they all are FDA approved.

The selection of the right filler for each patient is different, we need to look at the area we are going to inject, what do we want to correct, and the anatomy and expectations of the patient. We should never pick a filler because of the price; the selection of the correct filler is as important as selecting the right injector.

What Is A Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are gel-like substances that are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours. Many men and women annually choose this facial rejuvenation treatment, which can be a cost-effective way to look younger without surgery or downtime.
Dermal fillers are known as “wrinkle fillers,” but they can a lot more than just smooth out wrinkles, although they are excellent at this too! Fillers are able to help with:

● Smooth out lines around nose and mouth (a.k.a. marionette lines, smile lines, and
parentheses)
● Rejuvenation
● Enhance & restore volume to sunken cheeks or temples
● Diminish vertical lip lines
● Plump & enhance the lips
● Smooth out a chin crease
● Improve symmetry among facial features
There are a variety of FDA approved filler products that our very experienced healthcare providers use. In general, fillers are categorized by the substance they are made from.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is already found in your skin. It helps keep skin plump and hydrated. HA fillers are typically soft and gel-like. The results are temporary, lasting 6 to 12 months or longer before the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.
Most HA fillers are infused with lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during and after treatment. FDA approved HA fillers include:
● Juvéderm products: Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE
● Restylane products: Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne,
Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Contour
● Belotero Balance
● Revanesse Versa

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Calcium hydroxylapatite is also a naturally occurring substance, found primarily in our bones.
When used in a filler, the calcium particles are nearly microscopic and suspended in a smooth
gel. The consistency of a CaHA filler is typically thicker than that of a hyaluronic acid filler and
typically last longer as well, about 12 months for most patients. Calcium hydroxylapatite is also
reported to help stimulate natural collagen production, and it is typically used for deeper lines
and wrinkles. FDA approved CaHA fillers include Radiesse®️.

With so many dermal filler products on the market, it can be difficult to know which option is best
for you without an experienced cosmetic surgeon’s guidance. Each product is uniquely
formulated to have a certain texture, density, and injection depth, which means that certain fillers
work better for certain areas of concern. While your experienced provider will determine what
product is best for you, there a number of places where they can be applied too, for example:
● Volumize Lips
● Plump Cheeks
● Reshape the Chin or Nose
● Eliminate Marionette Lines & Nasolabial Folds
● Define Jawline
● Volumize Temples
● Under Eyes

Each of these fillers is perfect for different applications. For example, lip fillers. It is very important to take in consideration the expectations of the client. If the client wants bigger lips, more define lips, or a more natural result, the filler to use will be different. The same apply when injecting other areas of the face like: Cheeks, tempos, Jawline, Nasolabial folds, Gluteus(Butt), Marionette lines, and Nose. It is very important that you as a client communicate with the Injector and let him/her know your expectations in order to get the best results.

At Aromas Medspa, all our injectors have the experience and knowledge to help you choose the right product and get the best results.
We know doing fillers for the first time is not an easy decision. Our team of Health care providers will make this more comfortable and easier for you.

Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Volbella, Restylane Contour, Juverderm Ultra, Voluma, Vollure, Perlane, Belotero, Versa and Radiesse   With more choices comes more confusion. The following is a guide to help you choose. Ultimately, all of these fillers are approved by the FDA for use in the United States, and the FDA has very high standards. To give you an example, the rest of the world (including Canada and Europe) had been using Restylane for more then 15 years on more than 10 million patients before the FDA allowed doctors in the United States to inject Restylane. The newer fillers (Juvederm and Radiesse) have taken much less time to be approved. So as far as safety is concerned, the FDA considers all to be safe, but Restylane has the longest track record and the most people injected worldwide, by far.

The only stain on Radiesse’s record occurred in patients who had the product injected into the lips. Some of them got lumps because of the nature of the muscular anatomy of the lips, therefore Radiesse is not approved for and should never be used in the lips. Radiesse now offers the Radiesse Plus (+) that already comes with lidocaine and make the treatment more comfortable. Juvederm has not been out as long as Restylane but it is a very similar product (both are cross-linked hylaronic acid) that provides excellent results. The final purpose of all derma fillers is to correct volume loss and treat wrinkles in the skin. Also, the new trend in derma fillers is to use them for jawline contouring and nose jobs (Lift). Versa is a new player in the derma fillers area but with excellent results and duration.
